Astaxanthin is a natural pigment that belongs to the group of carotenoids. It is a red pigment found in various organisms, including algae, shrimp, salmon, some sea urchins, and many other marine organisms.
All of these organisms have a distinct reddish color because of it. That is why it is often used as a natural dye for many foods, such as yogurts, ice cream, cereals, and more.
Due to its properties and beneficial effects, it is often referred to as the "king of carotenoids".
The capsules contain a completely natural source of astaxanthin. It is extracted from the freshwater algae Haematococcus pluvialis, which is the best source of this pigment.
It is a chlorophyll microalgae that thrives best in stagnant and slow-moving waters. It produces the highest amounts of astaxanthin when environmental conditions become unfavorable for normal cell growth, such as intense light, high salinity, and poor nutrient availability.
